Windows 7 support ends January 14, 2020 (in just a couple months). There is the possibility that you might be able to purchase extended support for under $100 for a year, but Microsoft has not released the pricing or requirements. However, they have said that at least some home and small business owners will be able to purchase extended support after December 1 for an undisclosed price.

My recommendation is that anyone with a Windows 7 machine should replace it.
