Google's Project Soli
Google does some very interesting things. This could be one of the most life changing and almost no one is talking about it. They have worked out how to use RADAR to recognize small hand and finger movements. This could make it easy to have keyboards or mice in space and many other things we can't think of. Two things that make this technology extremely exciting:
- RADAR is able to quickly respond to tiny movements
- Production will be very cheap, and have no moving parts, so almost anything could respond to tiny hand gestures.
Here's a 4 minute video from Google. Will this replace buttons, switches and mice? Will you move your finger in front of a light switch to turn it on and will that switch be cheaper than the mechanical ones we now use? Will it make virtual keyboards a reality?
