FireFox TipMake Firefox Search open in a new tabWhen you use the little search box in the Firefox Toolbar, the default action is for it to present the search results in your current page. However, I normally want it to present the search results in a new tab so I don't lose what I'm currently working on. It is easy to change this behavior. Configuring advanced preferences in Firefox is done by entering about:config in the address bar. Then find the browser.search.openintab option. You can start typing it into the filter field until it appears. Then simply double click it to switch from false to true. If you don't like it, then reset it by double clicking again to toggle the switch back. Date: July 2008
