Upgrade to Nod32 Version 3

Nod32, my recommended antivirus was updated some months ago. This move from version 2.7 to version 3 is not automatic. Small updates within a version happen automatically, but this major update must be done manually. As long as your license is current, you are entitled to the upgrade. Unlike Norton, the license for Nod32 includes both antivirus signatures and also software upgrades for the full year (or two).

They recommend uninstalling your previous version first. The link to the new software is: ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000⁄XP⁄Vista (32-bit): http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN552

The recommended procedure is to uninstall V2.7 before installing new V3. Unfortunately, current settings won't be saved.

Before You Upgrade

Of course, I'll be glad to upgrade for you. I can do it onsite, or remotely using my remote control program. Call me and we can setup a time. If you want to do it yourself first:
  • Make sure you have your current username and password. You will need it to install the new program.
  • If you want Nod32 to send notification of problems to me, then you'll need your outgoing servername, username and password so nod32 can send emails directly in case of problems.
  • If you have it performing a weekly complete scan (recommended), you'll need to set that up again. This is done by scheduling a local scan profile.
  • Download the new program from the link above.

1. Uninstall Your Current Program

  • From the Start menu, select "All Programs"
  • Choose "ESET", then select "Uninstall"
  • Follow the prompts to uninstall NOD32 and then reboot your computer to complete un-installation.
  • Once your computer has restarted, use Windows explorer to locate and delete the C:\Program Files\ESET\ folder. (Windows Explorer can be started by finding the My Computer Icon and right clicking and selecting Explore, or by simply pressing the Windows Key and the Letter E (for Explore) (Windows-E).
  • NOTE: Delete the ESET folder ONLY. Do not delete the Program Files folder!

2. Install the New Program

  • Simply run the install program to install the new program. Follow the prompts and answer the questions.
  • To add notification in case of problems: The Notification setup Window is under Setup ⁄ Enter entire advanced setup tree. Then under tools you'll find "Alerts and notifications".
  • You can schedule a weekly In-Depth-Scan if you leave your computer on by choosing Tools⁄Scheduler and adding a weekly In Depth Scan.
