Macrium Reflect. A New Version is coming!

Macrium Reflect is moving on October 8, 2024 from a purchase model to a rental model for their software. I'm seeking another option. Their backup will actually stop working when your rental period ends, though the restore will continue working.

Following along the path blazed by Elon Musk, Macrium Reflect is calling their new version X. Reflect X to be precise. It will be released officially on October 8. Is there any good reason to buy it right away? No. It will probably be a little better, but not much. It isn't worth the $50 they are charging us to rent it for a year. There is no longer a free version of Macrium Reflect. There isn't even a version we can buy. They've gone to the rental model. After 1 year, it will stop backing up, though it will continue to restore. I recommend just sticking with version 8 until I can find a suitable alternative.

However, if you have 3 or 4 computers, you can purchase an annual rental for $100 (for 4 PCs), which is actually a reasonable price. In that case, I'd suggest going ahead and renting it. The home version is what matches most of my clients.
