Security breaches are so common, that Robert Mueller, current director of the FBI says that there "are two types of companies those that have been hacked and those that will be." (Keynote speech of the 2012 RSA conference) I found this site interesting. It lists the major ones for 2012. There seem to be a few major hacks every week.
