Excluding Folders from Vipre's Active Protection

As some of you know, I'm very unhappy with how difficult Eset's NOD32 is to renew. I've been moving some of my clients into Sunbelt Software's Vipre Premium. Recently an update to Vipre has caused problems with a few programs, one of which is my password program. If you are using Vipre and my password program and the password program started running slower than molasses, then this is probably the problem. In any case, it is always good to know how to configure your Active Protection.

  • Open Vipre and choose the Manage Tab.
  • Choose View allowed items

  • Then select Add
  • Then Allow an entire folder and Browse. My password program is usually in c:\security\Passwords

It is often helpful to stop active antivirus protection in a folder which is VERY unlikely to get a virus and which scanning causes a significant slowdown. For example, often antivirus programs have trouble with a database or accounting software and slow those down. You could use this procedure to ignore that data folder.
