Poe Tips March 2026
Tip 1: Use the @ signIf you ask a question and are not totally satisfied with the perfection of the answer or want it amplified, you can simply add the @ sign followed by another bot's name. You don't need to know the name; just start typing, and you'll get options. For example, if I type @gr this pops up.
Poe has 5 Grok models, so just typing @gr pulls up a menu for me to choose from. I will frequently ask, "Enter @somemodel what do you think?” To get another opinion, that was trained differently. Tip 2: Use a cheap default botMake a little dumb, cheap, simple bot your default. My current default bot is the Poe System Bot. It costs 30 points per query. You get 3,000 points for free each day, so that's 100 queries a day using that bot. If I need a better bot, I use a more expensive one. Usually this is all I require. Their Poe System Bot is run entirely by Poe, so they don't need to pay another company. They base it on claude-3-haiku-20240307. As I explained in another article last month, this name means Claude (Anthropic's model), 3 (last year's model). The current model is 4.5 (as of January 2026), 20240317 means that the training was finished on March 17, 2024. It is nearly 2 years old! Don't ask it about the latest basketball scores. If you require cheap current information, you can select the Poe Web search bot. It is inexpensive and not bad. Date: March 2026
